3 Uses of a Conservatory

Building a conservatory on your property adds a beautiful and unique element to your home. For starters, conservatories are made of glass, which means that no matter the room will be full of light and life, and from the outside might differ quite a lot from the rest of your home.

Conservatories can house plants, like greenhouse, pools or comfortable seating areas.

Greenhouses:

Greenhouses, or glasshouses, are buildings where plants are grown. Because of the incoming solar radiation, greenhouses heat up very quickly. The plants and soil eat up all of the sun's nutrients and are able to grow the same way they would outside. One major advantage however, is that being inside they are protected from harmful weather conditions such as frost or harsh rains. Moreover, they are kept safe from animals that might otherwise have eaten them. Greenhouses can be as small as a little shed or as large as an opera theatre. In the United Kingdom, the largest greenhouse is called the Eden Project and is located in Cornwall.

Pool houses:

If you live somewhere where the sun doesn't always shine, you might choose to build your swimming pool inside a conservatory. You can put plants inside and have big windows that open and sliding doors to give it that outdoor feel, but then have chaise lounges and big wicker arm chairs spread around to make spending time in it more like a spa experience than an indoor pool experience. Laying down stylish tiles on the floor and seating areas where people can chill, eat or drink away from the pool are extra little touches that go a long way.

Party rooms:

Having a conservatory on your property is a great space in which to throw cocktail parties. They are open, breezy, bright and tall. With the doors left open guests can move in and out of the conservatory at their own pace. And when the party isn't going on, residents can simply sprawl out on the couch, kick up their feet and read their book while enjoying a hot cup of tea and watching the rain beat the outside of the glass that surrounds them. Sound magical? That's because it is. Conservatories are very beautiful structures. With the right furniture, structure and set up, it is possible to create an ambiance that is very enjoyable, relaxing and even romantic.

If you have the space, it may be well worth considering building a conservatory on your property.
