Frame Boxes: Protecting your Mirrors and Pictures

Moving fragile items such as large mirrors, paintings and picture frames need a careful hand and a specific box. Simply packing them individually and piling them altogether in a single box would not work and presents a great chance of damage. Even placing sufficient pads and cushion in each item may not be enough. Why? It's because you can't guess what happens during the transit and shipment. Movers and carriers have no way of determining what are inside the box unless you make bold prints of "fragile" sign outside the box.

Why worry when all you need to do is get frame boxes and pack delicate items cautiously. These frame boxes are designed to protect fragile items from damage during transit. Now that you have the box to put your items in, it's time for you to learn how to pack frames, mirrors, paintings and similar objects properly with these simple guides:

1. You need to choose a packing area. Tabletops and other structures with flat surfaces make a good zone. Be sure to protect surfaces with enough cushion or cloth.

2. Pile up a sufficient amount of packing paper on the area and lay the picture frame on the middle of the stacked papers.

3. Wrap it tightly and run packing tape around generously to ensure it is secured.

4. Put necessary label on the wrap even if you'll put it eventually in the box. Indicate what item is inside and whose room it should belong.

5. Set aside the wrapped frame and start working on the frame box. Frame boxes are generally made up of two pieces (others have four) of open boxes that lets you adjust to whatever size you need.

6. Take one part of the box and fill the edges with crumpled papers. These papers serve as the cushion for your frame. Do the same with the other part. You can also use bubble pack or any other pads for cushion.

7. Slide one section of the box into the other and press it.

8. Put the picture frame inside and press the sides to make sure that the picture frame fits perfectly with the box. Put additional crumpled papers to empty spaces to prevent your picture from moving inside the box.

9. Secure the box with tapes all the way around several times and in few different places to ensure that the box won't come apart while in transit.

10. Label the box with its content and its room destination.

With your fragile items in frame boxes, shipping transporters will readily be aware of the delicate items inside and take precautions in handling them. Complete your successful moving with cautious unpacking of your items.
